RE: 2008 Chevy Suburban

Here you go. No warranty work ever done. It was a Hertz rental Sub.
A couple things I notice no G80 locking diff, a 2lt has no heated seats, memory seats, turn signal mirrors. It has the 17inch wheels well that are just plain ugly(easily fixed though)Tow package is standard on the Suburbans.

RE: I'm bummed........

The 2008 Silverado's and Sierra's in the 2500's are pretty much cleaned out. IF you want an 08 you kinda have to take what you can get. If you found one with 4:10's thats even rarer.

RE: Can't get a 3.73 in a 2WD?

The only way you can get a 3.73 in the Silverado is with the Vortec Maxx 6.0 liter. The 2009 extended cabs do not get the 6 speed auto until Jan 2009. The crew cabs have the 6 speed auto now.

RE: 2004 Silverado 2500HD Mirrors

I got my camper mirrors(2006 style) from fenderworld.com $266 a pair shipped theyare like the Gm ones except no turn signals. They were very easy to put on had all the factory conectors. They are also on Ebay. You asked about camper mirrors coming with the tow package? Its funny that half the people that are buying the 2500 and 3500 do not want the camper mirrors on them.

RE: Does anyone here sell Chevy/GMC trucks? I got a question...

Gm changed the military discount this spring. It is now supplier price( which is 4.5% over gm employee price) minus any current rebates. So the current gm employee price is better than military discount price.

RE: Help me buy a Suburban

On the 1/2 tons if you get a 2007-2008 with the ltz package it will have the autoride suspension which has the rear load leving feature. You should consider changing the P-rated tires to Lt tires for more stability( they even make the 20's in lt tires)Finding the 1/2 ton with a 6.0 liter or a 4.10 is more difficult. Nobody seams to want one , but us crazy folks. I do all the ordering at the dealership I work at and have only ordered one 6.0 1/2 and that is because the Boss wanted to drive it as a demo. In 2006 they made a Suburban Ltz it had the 6.0 motor out of the Denali and all wheel drive. I have seen quite a few of those arround lately. Do an autotrader search and you will be suprized what you find.

RE: Trucks with lift kits

I have a 2006 Silverado 1/2 ton crew cab that has a 6 inch lift and 35's on it. It pulls my camper better with the lift on it than it did without. My camper is only about 5000lbs. I changed the gears from stock 3.42's to 4.88's, the towing mileage went from 9-10mpg to 11-12 mpg. I can now tow in overdrive. The rpm's are are 2000 at 60 mph, the Trans does not have to shift down very often any more and when it does it only revs to 3000 instead of the 4000-4500 it did before. I have the add-a-leaf and a 5" rear block for the rear suspension. The bounce that I used to have on the freeways is now gone. My rear does not drop very far when I hook up. I went from P-rated tires to lt's in the d load range. The shocks are pro-comp mx-6's that are adjustable. They are are adjusted to full firm when towing and that takes away the bouncing that I had before. I do use an equalizer hitch too. I was worried( my wife was worried) how it would pull my camper lifted. I am glad that I did it. But every one has there own comfort levels and likes.

RE: Vehicle Prices

Here is the invoice on a 55k Sub.
MSRP: $55,095
Order Type: TRE Retail Stock
Age of Inventory: 147
Stock Number:
Status: Available
*DIP: 49711.78
*GMS Price: 47889.95
This one is about as loaded as you can get a 1500 Sub. It has about $5300 from sticker to invoice. There is currently only $4000 in rebate, for a total of 9300 off. I have signs in all my Subs at work for $9300 of and NOBODY even looks at them. The used car guy is sick to his stomach when people want to trade in a truck or suv. At the auctions most trucks and suv's don't even get a bid. Now is them time to buy late model used truck if you want one cheap. Hopefully the gas thing turns arround or at least stabilizes. I will still drive my own Silverado though.

RE: Is my 08 Sierra set up to charge my trailer battery

Also you must engage the tow haul mode onthe trans for the alt to send enough power to charge a battery on a trailer( smart voltage regulator that they use in the new body styles)

RE: 1500HD 6.0 vs 2500HD 6.0 - what's the diff.

Okay guys, check your years. In '02 that's what a 1500HD was. The 'current' 1500HD is a totally different beast. The new one was created after they did away with the old version and folks started demanding it back. I would love the new 1500HD in an excab if available.
Again, never say never.
You have me curious!! What is the last 8 numbers of your vin? I will run it in the Gm system and see what they say
Thanks

RE: 1500HD 6.0 vs 2500HD 6.0 - what's the diff.

1500hd 8600 gvw smaller frame than 2500hd autotrac transfer case available on 4x4's smaller rear axle than 2500hd most had 3.73's gears(most thought it would get better mileage than 4.10's it just limited towing 7900lbs bumper pull, 9900lbs with 4.10's 10,300lbs with 2500hd
only available as crewcab shortbox
2500hd 9200gvw 4.10's only availble with 6.0 gas engine no autotrac transfer case heavier frame and rear axle

RE: 1500HD vs. 2500HD

The 1500hd was made from 2001-2003. In 2004 it was called a 2500. 2005-2006 it was called a 1500hd again(no one wants a light duty 2500 but a 1500hd is better and they also came out with the 1500 short crew that year) It has a 6.0 liter engine and same trans as a 2500hd. The frame is not as strong or as tall as a 2500hd. Smaller axles at the rear that the 2500. When equipped with 3.73 gears it will bumper pull 7900 lbs. with 4.10's it will pull 9900lbs. A 2500hd of the same years is 10,300 lbs and only available with 4.10's with the 6.0. It was only available as a crewcab 6.5 foot box. With the 3.73's you will not get much better gas mileage, as most people think. The trans has to shift a lot if you are pulling over 5000lbs with the 3.73's. The 1500hd also had the same autotrac transfer case as the regular 1500's. For my money I would take a 2500hd over the 1500hd all day long.
